project 4 : feathers and wax

I hope you are super excited to join me as we begin to play with encaustic wax!

Although this medium seems a little more intimidating than it actually is...we do always have to consider safety when using mediums that require heat!

Please do watch this set up video and review the materials list before you begin and make sure you have good ventilation too. I usually have at least two windows open and a small fan going. Alternatively, you can work in your kitchen and have your exhaust fan going over or near your heated wax. Please stop working if you experience any headaches or other unwell feelings. Everyone is a little different on how they tolerate the wax. Please make sure you don’t heat the wax hotter than 220 degree Fahrenheit.

Here is a video of my wax set up:

Alright, let jump into those projects!

Encaustic wax creates a dreamy surface and what would be more dreamy than gorgeous feathers emerging from the wax?! I first saw this combo on Pinterest and knew I had to try a feather and wax collage myself!

Gather your feathers, bits of ribbon, lace or twine, vintage papers and your wax! Let’s begin!

P.S. I actually made two of these! I could have easily made more….it’s kinda addictive!

Yup... you’ll see your first BONUS lesson. ;)

Come on now...are you in love or what? I mean seriously….what a stunning combo! Can’t wait to see your creations! Talk about a sweet gift for someone.

Let's continue to the flock of birds landscape...
