opening night

It’s time for our final adventure with Degas! Are you ready? This one is a challenge but one that I found very enjoyable - mostly. ;) Believe me when I say that I experienced fear, apprehension and frustration through the process. That’s just par for the course, I’m afraid! So again, please be patient and kind with yourself. One of the things I adore about art is that you can NEVER learn enough. Whatever your experience, there is always MORE to gain by study and practice. This project reminded me of this.

opening night - introduction

color palettes

Before we begin the project videos, I wanted to supply you with a few color palettes to inspire you. Of course, you are welcome to choose whatever colors you would like to. I used this first one for my pastel painting.

Aren’t they just beautiful?! You can see why I had a gazillion pastels out. It was a bit of a rainbow party but the way he layers the colors is truly superb. You are also welcome to stay to simpler color palette if this feels overwhelming. To create similar color palettes and examine color in this way you can use this online tool to create your own color swatch images.

Also, if you choose to use the image I did as my inspiration for color and pastel technique you can go here to ZOOM into the work and examine it! Very handy indeed!

Ok let’s get started!
