Hi everyone and thank you for joining me for this fun lesson.
I have had a love for needlework since I was about 13 years old. I did my first cross stitch project in a home education class in Jr. High, I’ve been hooked ever since. I come from a long line of women that dove into the art of needlework. From my maternal great grandmother crocheting doilies and my paternal grandmother creating hand embroidered pillowcases, I’ve had this beautiful art in front of me one way or another for many years.

I have recently discovered how fun it is to change up the traditional embroidery designs with a more modern look. Fabric and thread choices are limitless, finished pieces can easily be framed or displayed right in the hoop.
I also love how convenient working with embroidery is. With only a few small supplies needed, embroidery can really be done anywhere. I enjoy taking it with me while I wait for my daughters at their dance class. I also find it so relaxing to cozy up on the couch and slowly work away at my piece. Its something I can do with my hands while my mind can wander. I think it’s the perfect project for this month’s theme “Finding Beauty in Everyday Life”.

If we slow down and just look around, beauty is surrounding us. Take a walk in your neighborhood. If you choose to see beauty there will be an abundance on your walk. Notice flowers, kids playing, or a dog napping in the sun.
Sit outside at night and notice the beauty right above you. The stars are always there shining down on us. Even in the daytime they are still there, though they are less noticeable. We don’t often think about them in the daylight. Perhaps we even forget that the stars are always there shining the same beauty down on us. Sometimes we need to go outside and really let the beauty and warmth of the day flow through us to remind us. (The sun is our nearest star)
I hope you will take the time to enjoy this slow and calming art. Steal a few moments each day to add a few stitches in. Let your mind wander and reflect on the beauty in your day to day life.
